Monday Moan Thread

Its just that not a lot of what you say is true, or even makes much sense. You talk about how how the remain camp are more focused on short-term monetary status than principles - the entire EU is based on principles of cooperation, unity and progression. And yes, there is an economic argument, but its far from "short-term" - we have depended on the EU ever since we lost the empire, and we can't just stop now; do you think all that trade was just for fun? We need that trade - the one light of hope from this awful, awful decision to leave is that we are going to have to continue to accept freedom of movement and immigration (which I believe hugely benefits our society) if we still want access to the single market - access we need. Top leave campaigners have already come out and reneged on their promises: the £350bn is not going to the NHS, and leaving the EU won't necessarily stop immigration.

Thats why people are angry - we in the remain camp knew that the leave campaign were lying. We knew, we said it, and no-one listened. We're not against democracy, but we don't believe democracy should be manipulated by the lies of career-driven politicians like Gove and Johnson. I think there are heavy underlying tones of racism and xenophobia that drove the leave campaign - and your point about the predominantly white areas is absolute bollocks. Racism is not just how many racist slurs you hear on the street, it is how people think about "us" and "them". Underlying tones of racism are far more likely to play a role in electoral decisions in areas that are mostly white. I grew up in Exeter, an almost completely white city in the southwest of England, and then moved to the multicultural heart of London, and having spent a lot of time in both I can tell you that the former was the more racist of the two.

Point is, you seem to have completely misconstrued why people are angry. The wrong decision was made, and it was made because of lies. Couple that with the fact that your points are utter crap and you have a totally useless comment. Congratulations.
