Monthly Apprenticeship Thread (September 2018)

This may not be the thread for this and many of y’all may not care but I just wanna say that my hard work and patience has paid off.

When I got into the trade, I had no experience or knowledge of electrical work, nor did I care too much. I just needed a career. Over time, I’ve learned to love this trade and this job and for the first time in my life, I actually give a shit about my job and my work. I used to think that my interest in the field and my work ethic had gone largely unnoticed, but that was proven wrong today.

I just got sent out to a new job and met the new journeyman I’d be working with and he said he was happy to finally have a good apprentice working with him. I asked him what he meant and he told me the project manager had told him he was sending the best apprentice they had. This is in a large company of about 50 apprentices. I played it cool but on the inside I was freaking out. I’m not gonna lie, it felt really good to have my work validated that way and that the guys in the office took note.

Anyway, sorry for the long braggadocios novel, I just wanted to get it out there. Sometimes hard work does in fact get recognized and appreciated.
