Monthly "No Stupid Questions" Thread

I've bought a JX Compound for my 9yo brother and I got excited about archery myself. I've looked up some basic archery kits and I'm wondering about Rolan Snake. I shoot airguns, but bow seems like a fun alternative. However, I've heard this sport might be dangerous to one's arms and hands - I'm a graphic designer and my hands are the things that keep me alive and fed. I'd like to know if Rolan Snake - and what version - might be good for me. If I've ever plan to upgrade, I'm happy to pay for it, so I don't want anything high end. Recreational use only. Should I look at Rolan Snake or should I just go for some 15lbs kids bow?

Budget: 200PLN (60$) for a bow

Requirements:

  • something that I can hide in wardrobe for a year and don't worry about it rotting away
  • something that won't put too much strain on my hands and will be fun to shoot up to 20m

Me: ~170cm ( 5 feet 7 inches ), I'm lifting.

From other questions - I've got a Polish video from a bowyer shop on basic gear, but I'm not sure about targets - the kid's kit came with a straw target. Is it necessary to have one? I don't want to damage the arrows, but they're moderately expensive and straw target + a stand for it is another 200PLN.
