Monthly School Admissions and Application Questions Thread

Hey everyone. I would like to do a PhD in quantitative psychology, but have a very non-psych background and a non-traditional PhD background.

I have a master's in international relations and am doing one in statistics while working as a data scientist (I took a lot of math, econometrics, and programming classes in undergrad). I got interested in psychology/behavioral economics in my senior year after going deeper into micro-economics, particularly decision theory and game theory, but decided to continue on the path I was on at the time (ironically falling for the sunk cost fallacy).

I don't have research experience in a lab. Can my math background and experience developing models in the private sector make up for that by demonstrating statistical/programming chops? What can I do to strengthen my application?

My GRE scores are V: 170 and Q: 162.
