Monthly What are My Chances? Thread

*Year in school: Graduated in May 2017, am in a gap year rn *Country/state of residence: Florida, USA
*Schools to which you are applying: UMiami, UF, FSU, UCF, GW, Penn State, Drexel
*Cumulative GPA: 3.87
*Science GPA: 3.83
*MCAT Scores: 506 (126/125/127/128)
*Research – include any abstracts/posters/publications and how you were credited (eg. First author, senior author, etc): >3800 hours in 3 different labs earned consistently over the course of 6 years. 1 first authored abstract, 1 presentation at a symposium. I have another publication thats unrelated to research (I wrote a book).
*Volunteering (clinical) – include hours/sites: ~300 hours in a large hospital, another 300 hours in a small clinic. Lots of patient contact at both. These were earned over the course of 3 years.
*Physician shadowing – include hours/specialties: 50 hours peds, another 50 hours surg.
*Non-clinical volunteering: Church volunteering ~350 hours over 4.5 years, a community outreach program ~150 hours over 1.5 years, soup kitchen volunteering (~50 hours over past few months).
*Extracurricular activities: A little bit of traveling within the country.
*Employment history: Have tutored/been a TA for 7 different courses over the course of the past 5 years. Altogether comes out to >3000 hours of teaching experience. I've also worked another on-campus job for 1.5 years and ~450 hours.

*Specialty of interest: Undecided, but interested in surgery
*Graduate degrees: None
*Interest in rural health (y/n): No

If it makes any difference, I'm Cuban (I don't think this is considered URM), socioeconomically disadvantaged, and am a single parent. I think I'm still considered a traditional student since I just graduated and am slightly younger than the average age of matriculants.
