Monthly What are My Chances? Thread

thinking about applying next cycle, stats are low, but hoping to apply very broadly to some DO and low-tier MDs. just want some feedback on what i should do to improve my app, and if i even have any shot at landing an interview when i apply. thank you!: Year in school: senior at top 20 ivy State: CA cGPA: can realistically be ~3.2-3.3 around graduation with honors. somewhat of a big upward trend with my first four semesters being an average of 2.5, all under 3.0, and my last two years being more credits and and an average of ~3.8 hopefully sGPA: MCAT: studying for it right now, will take January --> really crossing my fingers for 515+. Research: 1800 hours total by graduation: ~1300 lab, ~500 clinical. submitting 1 lab and 1 clinical paper this year, keeping my fingers crossed for that. Volunteering (clinical): 315 (285 from high school, but I heard I can count if from same site/hospital). Physician shadowing: 14 hours, all neurology, am going to try to bump this up this year to 50-100. Non-clinical volunteering: none, am thinking about starting something this year though. Extra-curricular activities: president of a human rights organization that works with NGOs, write for a few science journals on-campus, and am thinking about starting boxing Employment history: none Immediate family members in medicine: no Specialty of interest: neurology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, sports medicine Graduate degrees: none, thinking about SMPs though Interest in rural health: n
