More beggars, more aggressive behaviors, more opportunists (my recent experience)

Assholes like /u/I_Hate_Disco are way too common in the homeless/beggar community, which is yet another reason not to give the homeless money.

...

There is no "community".

Being homeless or having to panhandle in Montreal is brutal. Go spend a week doing it, you would change your tune. Put yourself in another's shoes kinda thing.

If someone is on assistance, even in Quebec, rent takes a giant chunk of it. you'll be left with, depending if you have kids, $200-$600 for everything else. Hydro, food, bills, transit, the works. So some people take to panhandling, some take to collecting cans. Most have mental illnesses as well, which is why they cant compete in the job market, as our society is quiet unforgiving towards mental illness.

Drug addicts? Most people on the streets, self-medicate for their mental illness or to just numb the fact they have to sleep i a cardboard box again because the shelters were full.

You dont decide to become homeless or to have to go out and beg for money. It's humiliating and for many the only way to do it is while drunk, which is why you see issues with some like getting mad at you for saying no.

Seriously, fuck people who give money to the homeless.

No, fuck you.
