Most middle class people aren't itemizing their deductions. Having the standard deduction doubled meant almost everyone was taking home more money. The only people who lost "deductibles" are those rich people you hate so much. Anyone with kids also has double the child tax credit per child.

So for almost literally everyone, they will pay less in taxes for at least the next 6-7 years. Republicans wanted the tax cuts to be permanent but democrats were the ones who did not. Not a single Democrat would vote to make them permanent.

With the cuts not sunsetting until 2026-2027, That means joe biden and the democrats have 6 whole years, or almost 2 whole presidential terms where they can extend these tax cuts. The question is - will they?
