More Than 2 In 3 Chicagoans Feel Unsafe In Their Own Neighborhoods, Chicago Index Survey Finds

People want to talk about how important the police are all the time, but then are comfortable distinguishing between levels of crime and what police can actually dedicate their time to. Wouldn't you hope that, regardless of the level of crime, police would at least dedicate some time or resource to it? Isn't that their literal job?

It'd be one thing if they were proving themselves to be efficient, but they only clear about fifty percent of homicide cases. Granted, that's an incredibly high number compared to other cities, but still pretty alarming when you think about the other half that go unsolved. Now, if you want to talk about instances of police CREATING crime, that's a whole other story...
