[MORNING AFTER] Thoughts on the game. PIT 21 - CLE 18

I'll probably rewatch the game later today so maybe I change my mind on some of these points. Negatives: * I'm sorry guys but I hope we don't resign Crowell and if we do it, it better be for cheap. His lack of vision is hurting the run game. Although he wasn't helped at all by the blocking... * The OL yesterday was bad. Not bad in comparison to Seattle's or Giants' but bad for what we are paying for and their potential. Most of the sacks yesterday were on Kizer but Joe, JC and Zeitler need to step up. It was especially noticeable in the team's inability to open lanes for the run game. * I'm starting to run out of excuses for some of Hue's decisions and I'm starting to doubt him as a playcaller. Not as a HC though. His red zone plays yesterday were uninspiring to put it kindly. The one were Kizer took a huge sack is indefensible imo. As soon as we are behind in the scoreboard he totally abandons the run game, although I understand he did it because it wasn't working, it is inexcusable to force your rookie QB to throw 30 times in his first game in the NFL against the second best team in the conference. You cannot simply ask him to win you the game just yet. * The DL without Garrett doesn't generate pressure at all. Ben could have made a sandwich there. It's going to be difficult to force turnovers that way. * Jamar looked absolutely dreadful yesterday though I understand it was Antonio Brown. So I give him a pass there.
* ST keeps losing us games. I like Tabor but he needs to do something. Shit is getting old. * Kizer needs to start getting rid of the football faster, and has to learn when there's nothing more to do than throwing it away or he's gonna get injured by week 5.

Some positives (there were a lot of them, these are just a few): * Kizer's decision making and accuracy looked much better in comparison to his preseason games. I didn't expect him to be that accurate to be honest (66.6%; I think I heard Zegura saying nobody who had debuted as a 21 yo rookie cracked 50%). * I was fully prepared for 2 or 3 INTs from Kizer but he took care of the football and his one INT doesn't worry me. He was trying to throw the ball over the LB. He did that routinely in college, but in the NFL those LBs are much more athletic with higher verts and he wasn't expecting Watt to jump that high. He will adjust accordingly imo. * I believe he didn't stare down his receivers as much as in preseason though I will check this out later. Progress here. * I really liked Ogunjobi. If he improves his puss rushing watch out.
