Moronic Monday - Your weekly stupid questions thread

Sorry this is long!

So about a year ago my then 20 year old girlfriend got into a motorcycle accident where she ended up being flown off the bike and skid through an intersection. Thankfully, she wasn't severely injured or worse. Unfortunately, due to her poor family background and financial situation, she couldn't and wouldn't see a doctor immediately to get herself checked out. Later that week, she noticed ones of her knees feeling strange, as if there was a "bubble" underneath the knee cap, while the other felt normal. She was also a waitress at the time and so was on her feet all day walking around. Soon enough, she'd be unable to walk much at times due to the stinging in her knee. She took off a few weeks, and eventually saw a doctor who just need a physical check up (no x-ray or MRI scan) and said if she took it easy for a while it'd heal.

Well, she ended up going back to waitressing to stay afloat financially and her knee has just never been the same. Fast forward to today, she is no longer a waitress but she still hasn't seen a doctor about her knee, but will soon have insurance to be able to possibly help her out and it's come to her senses that this injury will never heal naturally. Her knee still feels strange, and somedays if she is on her feet a lot it stings. If you accidentally give it a light tap or if she lightly bumps into something with that knee (which both happen often) the pain is way more than it should be. She can only bend it to about 90 degrees, any further and it feels like something is pulling against her kneecap and it is uncomfortable/painful so she doesn't do it. She walks with a slight limp and puts a lot of focus on her good leg for anything/everything.

I've started going back to the gym after a year long hiatus and she's been wanting to join me because she's gained weight from never exercising after her injury. Her routine usually consists of what I think she can do without aggrivating her injury much like flat/incline bench, OHP, pullups/dips, and other accessory cable work, but it's upsetting to both of us how she can't possibly do main lifts like squats, deadlifts, anything that involves bending her legs and putting stress on her knee. In terms of cardio, somedays she can do the elliptical, somedays she cannot. Also, no access to a pool without shelling out major dough.

So my question is, asides from seeing a doctor and getting this issue sorted out ASAP, is there any particular lifts, programs, or advice you all can recommend for her to do despite her injury? Damn she really needs to get her knee fixed asap.. >_>

tl;dr: -gf has knee injury for over a year that will be checked out soon -can't put pressure on knee or bend it -can't run or walk for long periods of time -has only been doing upperbody (bench, ohp, pull ups, dips) at gym -somedays can do elliptical -what other things can she do? (besides finally see a Dr...)
