Most likeable character?

Rape? Because he talked the au pair into having sex with him? You do realize that women “in the 60s” had the ability to say no, right? She tried to tepidly reject his advances and he continued — and she immediately stopped resisting and went along.

I don’t know if you know what an actual rape is, but that was closer to “playing hard to get” than sexual assault.

Had she stepped back and said “look, you drunk MFer, I’m not gonna tell you again — GTF out of my room or I’m gonna scream,” then Pete would’ve most likely taken his drunk ass home.

But she didn’t. She said “I have a boyfriend,” and when Pete didn’t stop, she totally went along with it.

Was it creepy on Pete’s part to keep pushing himself on the woman after she said no, and expecting something in return for his kindness? Sure. But rape? Nope.

That wasn’t “rape.” It was a drunk guy forcing himself on a women who went along with it after a halfhearted attempt to reject him.

Many fans of this show act like women “in the 60s” had no agency. I always push back on this crap because I was raised by an actual strong woman during that period, so I know what they look like in real life. I guarantee if a Pete Campbell had tried that with my mom, she’d have screamed, kicked him in the nuts, scratched his eyes and done whatever else she could to ward him off.

But I guess that ruins your narrative that women “in the 60s” were all helpless pawns of the patriarchy, with no agency whatsoever and at the mercy of all the evil men in their lives.

Give it a haircut.
