I just got to a new duty station after a deployment and about 3 weeks of leave. We were in-processing, and I had done everything except one thing that could only be done throughout a 2 day class type thing on Thurs/Friday. They had cancelled it the thurs/friday I was supposed to do it for some reason, then the next thurs/friday was on a 4 day weekend so it wasn't happening then either.

I just left the station and drove a decent way to my home of residence and hung out there for about 2 weeks. Didn't take leave, didn't tell anyone, just left. We were still new to the unit and hadn't been instructed to do PT or any overall unit related activities so I was well under the radar.

I had friends at the duty station though to let me know if they were looking for me or needed me to come in for something so I could start the drive back, but I never needed to.

When I got back I was promoted with a waiver within a few weeks lol
