Mother Leaves Evangelical Church After Telling Her To Disown Her Bisexual Daughter: ‘I Chose My Child’

I’m sure it’s not going to be popular but I have to take sides with the Word of god on this one.

God is not a buffet, you can’t pick and choose and build your own cozy feel-good god to snuggle up to. Then what you’re doing is making a god in your own image, i.e. idolatry.

Is it a sin to be bisexual? No. Not anymore than it is a sin to be an imperfect human.

Is it a sin to live a homosexual lifestyle? Yes, it is a case of immorality and adultery according to the standard of God. (Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:5; 1 Corinthians 6:9,10)

If you are a Christian who know what is right and wrong yet persist in living a sinful lifestyle without repentance, how should the congregation deal with it? By excommunication. (1 Corinthians 5:9-13)

Why? Because it is the loving thing to do. Yes, loving.

Continuing to associate with unrepentant sinners shows them that it is ok to be an unrepentant sinner — that they can persist against God with no ill consequences. Why would they then ever repent? That means we ensure they will be judged as wicked. And we also become sharers in their wickedness. (2 John 11; Ezekiel 33:2-6)

It is also loving because it shields the other members of the congregation from corrupting influences. (1 Timothy 5:20)

Notice that excommunication and disowning are two different things. Excommunication is discipline in order to get the person to repent and come back. Disowning is rejecting a person for good. Different things.

Tolerance is not a virtue, it just means to accept something you don’t necessarily agree with. True love does not mean tolerating wickedness. Jesus didn’t tolerate wickedness. When greedy merchants corrupted true worship, he violently threw them out of the temple. And while he forgave sinners he also said “go and sin no more”. Love means to reprove when discipline is needed. (Hebrews 12:6,11; Psalm 141:5; Proverbs 1:7; Titus 1:9) Letting someone be judged as wicked because you are not strong enough to take a stand for God’s standards is not loving at all.
