Mother of Santa Fe shooting victim says daughter turned down alleged shooter's advances

Yeah I was wondering if there was a hotfix, some advice for any guys that wanted to approach a girl but didn't want to possibly put her in a situation where she's in fear of responding honestly and openly. I don't think toxic masculinity will die out for at least few more decades.

I guess maybe just saying "I'd like to ask you out, but I don't want you to be afraid of being honest if you're not interested, and my therapist has me on a new medication that's supposed to help me control my rages post-rejection." And should the guy gently stroke her hair, to comfort her, while he says that?

Seriously though, would that first bit, "I'd like to ask you out, but I don't want you to be afraid of being honest if you're not interested." be ridiculous, or would that maybe be helpful?
