Mother totally desparate and wants to reconsile after I stopped talking with her since her divorce with my dad.

I mean, an Indian mom treating her kid - especially a boy child, who is generally the rajkumar of the house, and moms will baby the hell out of them - like an acquaintance is a brutal rebuff, contextually speaking.

She might have depression, but that's not an excuse, just an explanation. Having a mental illness is a rough, rough thing in that culture, and it's important for her to seek help, but she burned this bridge and has to deal with the consequences of her actions. Depression is not under one's control, but a mentally ill person can't expect that our actions done under the influence of mental illness aren't harmful to others.

I also hold parents to a higher standard, and I think that OP is right to cut her out because she failed to meet that standard.
