Motion controlls are NOT a gimmick

Most of your examples are of specifically gyro controls, which are certainly motion controls but aren't what most people are referring to when they mention motion controls, most people mean making use of an accelerometer. Gyro controls are much more favorably looked upon and are easy to create a workaround in most scenarios so you don't force your players to use them if they don't want to

The problem most people have is that in the past, they were unresponsive/inaccurate, and that kind of burned a lot of people on it. It seemed like a gimmick because it was poorly implemented and often used in situations where it didn't improve or allow any new gameplay, but was rather all too often shoehorned in. Arms is cool because it makes creative use of motion controls, joycons supposedly have really good motion controls, and perhaps most importantly, they're optional! It's great when you get to use them if you want, but don't alienate the people whose trust you lost with the first wave of poorly implemented motion controls.
