Motorcyclists, how often do you end up falling off your bikes or getting in accidents?

Street/Open Road: almost never

Risk of Injury With Incident: Extremely high

Potential Effect/Impact: ER/Surgery/Death

Actual Effect/Impact: None

Strategy: Ride more conservatively, keep something in reserve, monitor road conditions, hazards and other motorists intensely.

Track/Racing: Once or twice a season

Potential Effect/Impact: ER/Surgery/Death

Actual Effect/Impact: Occasional Separated Shoulder a few Sprains

Strategy: Follow the advice of your race org given at every riders' meeting and know and use the safety/flagging/corner worker system. If you crash, relax completely until you come to a full stop, then get your body out of the impact zone. The bike is a secondary concern.

DualSport/Adventure: Once or twice a season

Potential Effect/Impact: Getting Stranded/ER/Surgery/Death

Actual Effect/Impact: Occasional Sprains and Bruises

Strategy: Don't outride your headlights/vision. Stop at trail intersections, watch blind corners, be always mindful of the road surface and potential obstacles. Watch out for ice and animal hazards: beaver, deer, bear, moose. Watch for other traffic: Dirtbikes, ATVs, Jeeps that might be hauling through the trail system. Use caution riding in dust clouds.

Dirt/Woods/Mud/Trail: Expected/Comes with the territory

Potential Effect/Impact: Getting Stranded/ER/Surgery/Death

Actual Effect/Impact: Occasional Sprains and Bruises

Strategy: mostly the same as Adventure/Dual sport with the addition of: Know the direction of the trail and be sure you're going the right way. Don't take blind jumps without knowing the launch and backdrop. If you're crashing/relax.
