I’ve been in your situation before.
The cleaners the agent sent were only booked for a surface clean (so only things you can see - no inside cupboards or pantries).
I was home when they came through and they totally sympathised and even did a few things extra just to help me out a bit. The guy said he was willing to put something in writing (as a professional third party) to say it wasn’t reasonably clean as the agent claimed - so know you can ask if you need it.
That said - if it’s agent managed, there’s a good chance the owners don’t know about it. I ended up meeting the owners later and they’re very reasonable people, and apologised profusely after finding out what happened.
