i had a fantastic experience renting with Costello Management super close to CMU when i first moved to PGH. i don't go to CMU but everyone else in my building were students! costello has a bunch of properties in shadyside like a 10-20 min walk or 5-ish min bus ride to campus. they are pretty pricey as compared to what you might find in oakland but imo the slightly higher rent is WELL worth it. we did not ever once have an issue with maintenance/repair or unfair leasing practices, and their units often include secure parking, updated in-unit washer & dryer and no pet rent. i know it sounds like i'm doing a paid ad LOL but really we just had such a fantastic experience i like to spread the word :)
