There are a few big infrastructure projects running concurrently in Melbourne at the moment. We live in the west, around Footscray, and are looking to move while they are on the go. They are building a huge digger for a tunnel project that's running till 2025 and we have had a few train disruptions and we have a ton of trucks running up and down Yarraville. Its been a nightmare getting to work the last two weeks with trucks, traffic and buses instead of trains. I have only just started thinking about moving and haven't checked completion dates for a lot of the work, but its worth doing your own research before hand. Other than that, for houses close to the city, yeah the west (Seddon, Yarraville, parts of Footscray, Kingsville, Williamstown) is a great option.
