Moving to Mississauga

Hi there,

I've lived in the Mississauga Valley area for 26 years, so my opinion may be a tad bias but I think it's a pretty good place to live. It does have a bit of a 'urban sprawl' feel to it but there are enough unique developments to break it up, as well as lots of parks in between them. I've never seen or heard of any crimes taking place in the area, it's very low key considering how close it is to the heart of the city.

Essential amenities are within walking distance, you got the Mississauga Valley community centre (Library, pool, gym, skate rink and more), theres also a big park behind it with baseball diamonds, a soccer field, tennis court, playgrounds, a splash pad, and a long winding trail through the forrest. You also have nearby strip malls such as Central Parkway Mall, it has a foodbasics, mcdonalds, subway and a bunch of other stores. It definitely hasn't aged well (still stuck in the 80s) but it's pretty well maintained and has some useful stuff like a Service Canada for passports and also there are a bunch of dentists offices on the second floor. You can tell they are gradually modernizing it which is nice. There's lots of elementary schools to choose from along Mississauga Valley Road, my sister actually teaches at Briarwood, we both went there as kids and it was great. Highschools are a bit further out but not crazy far.

One of my favorite local places to dine out is at Fred's Pub at Mississauga Valley Rd and Bloor Street. It's a small place but recently renovated, loaded with tv's, cold beer, and the food is great too. We go several times a month and it's always a blast.

All in all I say it's a great place to settle down in from personal experience, everything is just so close and accessible, while still feeling secluded and peaceful. I should also mention that I'm fond of the Streetsville area, it would be my 2nd choice, and 3rd being Port Credit. There are pros and cons to every location, I think you should physically visit some places to get a feel for them. Goodluck with your search!
