Moving to Model S LR from BMW M3

I came from a 440i and even on the model 3 the whining about the interior is overblown. The seats are nice, the space is pleasant, and the tech is way better than anything BMW will manage for the next 20 years. You will quickly find yourself cringing at overly aggressive cockpits with jagged lines, a million elements, and stupid flappy vents all over the place.

The suspension in the Model 3 is also very capable, but I was less impressed by the loaner S I drove, but it was a pretty old guy (75D) and I don't know if the updates have changed anything. The Model 3 honestly makes my old "sporty" BMW hardtop feel sluggish but that's less to do with track times and actual handling than just the overall driving dynamics of a reasonably competent sports sedan with instant torque and 500hp. Both the S and 3 drive like they are on rails up to the limit, and are pretty easy to control at that limit. You won't have any issue having fun in these cars if you aren't worried about track times, but I would definitely drive a Performance 3 before you settle on an S.
