MRW my boss tells me that because of my insanely hard work I've become too essential of an employee, so he can't allow me to transfer to the open higher level position

At a previous job the site manager was trying to force me out.

I think that part of it was that he thought that I basically did nothing. I was a specialist and the only one who tended to the control equipment of the site. I organized everything, but all the info into a database that no one else even wanted to try to learn, and built 3 system by myself that once again no one even wanted to try to learn.

After I left instead of trying to replace me with another person of equal skill he instead was trying to get one of the operators to step up into my position. I have a degree and a decade of experience. You can't just take some random person and have them do what I was doing.

It's been a couple of years now so I wonder what they did when my hand built systems needed tending to and literally the only person who understands those systems is long gone. Someone else could learn them but it's not something that's going to come easy especially if they don't have my skill set to begin with.

But, hey, the manager really didn't think that I did much around there so obviously losing me meant nothing.
