Ms.Marvel is the first Desi Superhero!

Heroism and masculinity is literally one of the key themes in Hindu epics like the Ramayana. The Uttara Kanda of the Ramayana even touches on toxic masculinity. It describes how Lord Rama shunned and disrespected his own wife just because he heard his subjects question her loyalty when she was captured by Ravanasura. The westerners didn't invent masculinity, or patriarchy. You are doing a disservice to Indian history and culture.

I reject shite like Mrs Marvel because it's the same old representation of south Asians as it's always been. Whenever the whites make a show or movie about one of us, they always sneak some bullshit on our culture or religion. They always make it about our identity. We're never "just another character". When it's a white character they don't delve into their culture and nitpick do they? Captain America is just a stone cold hero with charisma. Tony stark is just a rich guy who makes iron war suits. Doctor strange is a doctor with shattered hands and learned how to do magic.

I'd rather stick to our own movies and shows that portray us as actual human beings with their own lives and desires, rather than being some token minority for the white man to point and say "look how progressive we are". And yes, I'd rather watch a hyper masculine freedom fighter beat the shit out of British barbarians like in RRR than the shitshow that Ms Marvel is. I don't care if it's "regressive and fascistic" to you. So yeah, I am rejecting Mrs Marvel due to its lack of tradition south Asian masculinity and patriarchy.
