Bud, please use those critical thinking skills we talked about. If a charge never happened, with or without registered firearms, the state would never know to intervene in that situation and the hypothetical domestic abuser would still have firearms regardless.

Despite the whole "innocent until guilty" thing our law system works off of, it's even possible for the court to temporarily confiscate your firearms and not give them back until the not guilty verdict.
