Museums opening at this stage is a threat for public health and a stress factor for museum staff

Our museum is due to open in a couple of weeks (apparently) and I was discussing this with a colleague and she made the point that leisure was being opened first in my area which is true. The rec centres are staying closed but museums, galleries, and parks are opening soon. It's not an economic decision exactly. We're sort of a test case before small businesses try to reopen.

I also think that the "flatten the curve" strategy means the same number of people as a full contagion get sick, it's just slowed down. No health authority is trying to argue that prevention of infection is the goal, just controlled infection. I don't know if this is widely understood, I don't hear much about people stocking up on Tylenol and orange juice...
