A very good friend of mine from elementary school ended up in the hospital a year ago and nobody quite knew what was wrong with him. His myelin sheath seemed to be deteriorating and he was looking more gaunt than ever. My fun, goofy friend was now paranoid of everyone in the hospital. He made everyone he met promise him that he wasn't crazy and that he would only be there for a few days. I went up to visit him around 5 times while he was there and each time he seemed to get better and better.

I remember the first time I visited, when he was at his worst, unable to sleep or eat he showed me the opening to Sid Meyer's Civilization IV. I had played that game hundreds of times before, but I remember how he teared up at seeing the video and how he sung along to the song. He showed it to every nurse he had there, telling them it shows how humanity has progressed over our lifetime. This probably won't get seen and I would delete it if it got a lot of attention, but seeing this again in a new light nearly brought tears to my eyes. You're a great friend Jack, I'm glad to know you.
