Music Melting Pot [Week of February 27, 2017]

This is not typical normal music like most people who usually make a track in half an hour, or something.

Started this project at the beginning of September. So close to half a year of all your spare time for one track. Nevermind a video for it later. Was trying to do stuff with sirens and alarms. 6 parts, 7 minutes.

I ran out of my own riff combinations years ago so "borrowing" public domain classical. On this one, have those notes play with distortion guitar and bass. Experimenting with making my own melody instruments from sound effects which are in the same key as piano.

First thing when dealing with "borrowing" classical is which song. Pick a random one from ten thousand? Takes a while to find fair material. Classical can go on bad sounding tangents or get too mellow. Try to weed those parts out and have things flow after. It can have a lot of notes in one track. Try to separate those. There can be a lot of tracks for an orchestra. Classical doesn't have drums so try to add those. Figure out where a snare would go.

Test out substituting the drum components with sound effect noises instead. For this project started testing out beatmapping sound effect files. Even if you mix them up they'd speed up or slow down to still land at snare timing properly. This tune, the first mini-track has like 60 SFX tracks. All of this takes a while.

Really gotta keep this short here because to explain what's going on about my projects would take the 10k characters comment limit. So I can't explain everything, ok. You'd just have to go listen to the other stuff. This is the latest track released the other day.

This was enough material to release my first album. That'll be out soon. Started it four and a half years ago. Dozen tracks. They were already released as singles when I made them. The material was fairly normal song structure. For later projects I want to play around with trying to have more unpredictable twists, turns and surprises. That'll mean more time in the arrangement phase. Already takes long enough. Nevermind then doing a video after that. haha. Nice though, getting the album done.
