Apart from the first paragraph I agree.
While politically AtaTurk saw it prudent to pretend to be the ancestors and therefore overlords of the Turkic world, and even while the Western pimps ignore it, there is little truth in this.

Modern Turks are primarily descendants of those forcibly converted to Islam from Greece, Armenia, and Balkan countries, or they are of Arab, Iranian and Kurdish descent. There's probably a lot I've missed out, but it is this utter lack of identity that leads to mass cultural appropriation and attempts at asserting to purity of identity. It's all rubbish and every Turk knows it at heart.

(There are others I am sure that could explain this far more knowledgeable than me, but the basic premise is solid.)
