Muslims offer Eid prayers at the hall of Purappullikkavu Ratneswari temple in flood-hit Kerala. The temple trust also arranged all facilities for them, including water for the devotees to clean themselves before prayers. Around 200 Muslim devotees participated in the prayers.

Firstly, I thought this discussion was about religious tolerance and how it would be better if we shunned religion altogether. Where does it say in the whole thread that atheism is a panacea? You have been throwing in non sequitur of 'Atheism isn't a solution' by quoting random examples of conflicts and genocides and ascribing the causes behind those horrific events to atheism.

Are South Korea and North Korea at war because they are atheist countries? It's an absolutely absurd argument to make, if you say that since atheism didn't solve their conflict, they shouldn't be atheist. If you want to live under Bajrang Dal ruled Hindutva state or want Sharia law, just because atheism can't solve the Kashmir issue, go ahead and get those idiots elected who share the same beliefs. Your criticism of atheism is totally misdirected. Being an atheist doesn't mean you can never do anything wrong. But it does mean that you don't agree with the bullshit perpetuated by religions. And given how religions control our society, it does matter a lot.

Further, why do you ignore Norway, Sweden and so many other western European countries while making your case for anti-atheism, where many people don't believe in God or follow a religious doctrine or take religion seriously? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Importance_of_religion_by_countryPeople) One can openly criticse religions in the West which one can't do here for the fear that some religious lunatic might get offended.

Secondly, the benign picture of religions you paint in your replies is a far cry from the their evil reality. If you think religious moderation is a defensible alternative to religious fundamentalism, you are engaging in self deception. Lauding these Hindus and Muslims for coming together to help each other during the floods so that they can engage in their religious delusions is a tacit approval of everything wrong about religions. Surely, some of these Hindus and Muslims follow their shitty books literally and condone social sanctions approved by religions on everyone and women in particular. Perhaps, you too get some weird satisfaction on seeing women in burqas, or women fasting on Karvachauth. Perhaps you are indifferent to male kids getting their dicks circumcised, female kids being forced to wear hijabs, kids bowing in front of the idols or getting their heads shaved off and chanting mantras in the name of 'religious discipline', but I and many others aren't. You might enjoy the constant blaring of loudspeakers from the temples, mosques, gurudwaras and so forth but I don't. If you don't, then your arguments don't reflect that. There are numerous other examples to show how religions pervade our lives negatively and keep us in shackles.

In one of your replies, you had given an example of a study conducted on kids where they were told that they were being watched by an invisible person to give some sick justification for the morality sanctioned by religion. But I ask, do we need bad reasons to act good? Do we need to instill fear in little children to teach them to be good? Is concern for the happiness and suffering for conscious beings, a morality which is based in rationality not good enough? Or perhaps, you enjoy religion being forced on little kids who aren't even in a position to make a choice, drilling down religious delusions in their tiny brains. Perhaps you and many others like you in this thread are suffering from Stockholm syndrome and have come to believe that religions are necessary.
