It Must Be Nice

I commiserate. My kid’s dad lives across the country with his girlfriend while I live with my parents and have my son full time. They go camping and rock climbing every weekend, go out with their friends, go on vacations, do whatever they want, and post pics of these things with captions about making time to do the things they love. As if they have any real responsibilities that take away from “making” time for these things. They might be skipping out on sitting on the couch watching Netflix. They do all these things while coming to see my son only once a year, and wanting my son to call the girlfriend Mama, the same name my son calls me. Meanwhile I’m here with our son 24/7 by myself, in school, having to live with family in my 30s to make ends meet, with a high needs child who has never slept through the night at 4 years old. It must be nice. It really must.
