My rig is an i5 4690k, r9 290x, 8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengance ram, 128 Samsung SSD, and a western digital 2tb hdd. Built it in late June of 2015, after about a year in the making. I'm good with this build at the moment, I'll upgrade or build a new one around 2020. Admittedly, I built my PC just to play Sonic Generations! Before my PC, I only used to play on Nintendo consoles, and still do for the most part. I mostly game on my PC to play multiplayer games with my friends, but I've gotten to play and complete some of the best games I've played, like Grim Fandango.

My advice to newcomers?? Don't make impulse purchases during Steam Sales. I only play 90% of my library, there's so much money I could've saved.

Also, don't shit on people who play consoles. I cringe when a "PCMR" member shits on someone just because they play on a console. Not everyone has the time, money, interest, or dedication to build a gaming PC. Respect all!

I'd really like a CPU because I have a friend who is currently on a pretty crappy laptop (can barely run anything), and it'll take him a while to save up and build a full rig. A CPU would give him a great headstart. It'd be great to introduce him the the wonderful feeling of building and starting up a new PC. Thanks for the chance, OP.
