I see both views. If you guys talked about you waking him up that way, and you were in to it, I could see him just assuming that you would like reciprocation. Clearly, that wasnt the case, and now that he knows he should never do it again. You weren't overreacting in the moment though.

My issue is him feeling hurt/shitty that you didnt like it. I think you should talk it out again, in person, when you're both calm and let him know again that it's just not something you're in to. His reaction will tell you how he feels - if he doubles down and tries to play the victim again (you hurt my feelings because you didnt like it) then I would reevaluate your relationship. But if he apologizes and promises to never do it again, if i were you I would accept the apology and move on. It's up to you though.
