So weird because I had a guy exactly like this in my life several years ago who was also named Matt and also closeted gay. He was awful, but made people laugh and so got to be around all the time. I don’t really have any advice because it did not end well for me, he was a total shit talker who I couldn’t stand and I kind of threw my hands up and said I wasn’t going to deal with anyone giving him a free pass to be an asshole. I didn’t want to spend another second dealing with him, it made me feel so fake. So I lost a number of friends for that. Ten years later I can see how hang ups about coming out with his sexuality related to the situation, but I still don’t think that’s an excuse. But I know I’m a better person for having stayed away from him.
