Massively unpopular opinion here: I'm not going to lie, you being as pushy as you were from this situation, your lack of trust from the original post, etc. Sneaking around to find out information - these are all issues that would cause me if I were your boyfriend in this situation to end the relationship off. Keep in mind, I'm a little bit older, happily married now, etc.

He didn't tell you because he wasn't at that spot in your relationship. One year may mean a lot to you, but in the grand scheme it's nothing. Rather than let things develop organically you took that away. I hope you use this as a learning experience to trust your partner a little bit more.
