My [26/f] wedding ring was damaged during a party my husband [30/m] threw. The details behind it are strange and the diamond is missing now. He doesn't want me to press the issue with his friends.

I don't understand. You took off your wedding ring, to put it inside a container without a lid out in the open, (when you invite friends over and people have to use your bathrooms, anything on the bed, dressers or floor is out in the open) to walk away so your husband could hide it somewhere you won't even know where, while a party went down at your house?? Why in the world did you take it off? Why didn't you just wear it, it's your wedding ring? I don't understand I would never take off my wedding ring unless a doctor told me I had to, to prep for surgery. Everytime a ring gets taken off there is a chance it will get lost or stolen. I would never take that chance with my wedding ring especially if it had my mom's diamond in it. If I ever took it off I would necklace it around my neck until I was ready to put it back on. Why did you take it off?

Then you find it at the bottom of the trash in some random chip bag even though the last person to be seen with it was towards the end of the night? Wouldn't it be more towards the top of the trash then? Or someone would have seen someone at the party stick their whole arm down inside your trash can, right? Noone saw anything? How much alcohol was at this party, dang lol.

Do you know what all has to happen, how much force it takes to crumble up a ring and to get a diamond out of it? It's not that easy at all and it takes time. Someone should have noticed someone going into your garage because you can't do that by hand and I doubt people brought tools? Noises? Lights? Garage door opening? Someone should have noticed something.

Why would they destroy the ring just to get to the diamond? A full ring is worth much more than a diamond. All you would have to do is wait 6ish months or so not sure how much time, go a few states over, and sell it at a pawn shop then no one would find out right? (I'm assuming since it's custom that it's easily distinguishable and a police report has been filled) Why didn't they just stick it inside their pocket or inside their sock or somewhere on them and just keep the full ring? Maybe not even keep to sell but just keep the ring. I found a tennis bracelet on rite aids floor about 8 years ago that I still have. I don't want to sell it. Why would they take their time at a friends party to destroy a thousand plus dollar object and throw hundreds of the dollars away of gold or silver or whatever you had?

I am not at all saying this story didn't happen, I'm just saying I have so many questions and it doesn't make any sense. If I saw a ring I wouldn't take it. But if I did take it I wouldn't destroy it? I would keep it forever.

I hope I don't get down voted for this it's not like I'm calling you a liar. I guess the thing that doesn't make the most sense is why did you take off your wedding ring? I'm honestly a curious person and none of this makes any sense lol. Sorry.

TLDR; I'm a curious person with lots of questions because this doesn't make since to me. I know it's long. It's mainly written for OP or for anyone willing to read or explain so I can understand lol. Sorry.
