My (26M) friend (34F) has disabilities she isn't treating well. Her husband (35M) is disabled and does nothing for treatment. I think their kid (6M) is going to grow up messed up as a result. Should I call CPS?

Hi there!

My experience?

Don't call CPS - go and see them personally and have a full conversation with them.

First off don't worry about your friend thinking it was you. Tell CPS that you are worried about this.

Secondly, the conversation allows for the right thing to happen by everyone, friends included.

If you just call, a different approach is kicked in and it begins from a 'rescue' point of view that's harsh, very impersonal and always damaging to the care-givers.

Go and see them and have a full conversation - say what you've said here, and everything else you are thinking concerning them all.

And then step away and never go back to it unless they (CPS) asks, or your friends reached out to you.

That last one is difficult becauseyou will know that it was you who contacted CPS.

Just don't go the anonymous caller route. It gets out of hand very quickly.
