My baby sister (7F) was molested tonight by a family friend (70'sM)

What is with this " sweep it under the rug" mentality when it comes to sexual abuse. It's so disturbing. I've experienced this personally and witnessed it with my sister. My step dad was caught in my bedroom while I was at work, looking at private photos of me on my laptop and this was something he had been doing for potentially years before it was found out. My mother initially took it seriously and then soon shifted into this " its not a big deal. How about you just go talk to him about it. He has ptsd, he didnt know what he was doing" and proceeded to carry on her relationship with him, including sex, as per normal. My sister was assaulted by our uncle and when she seeked help our family scolded her for talking about it and told her to shut her mouth. They protected our pervert uncle and he's still at every family event like nothing happened. I just don't understand how a mother or father could be so passive about the violation of thier child. It's sickening.
