Are you... are you serious? Gear doesnt stop knockouts? Why do you think dropping a mouthpiece, or tampering with gloves, is a fight stoppage? They call the temple the button bc hitting it is an easy knockout. You keep your hands up high to protect it as well. Headgear protects you from knockouts 100%. Not all knockouts. You can only twist a neck or a jaw so far before the brain gives up. But the cushioning slows down the impact and spreads out the force, minimizing its effects and preventing all sorts of injuries including knockouts. For a guy who seems to be concerned a lot about sparring and not getting knocked out you should really wear some safety equipment. The problem wasn't just his shitty slow punch it was he tried to throw two punches kind of at the same time like in tandem leaving his head completely unprotected. His opponent backed up and instead of retracting the punch he reached and leaned his head forward straight into that straight punch. Partner planted and the white guy stretched right into it then the floor.
