At my clinical rotation today I was assigned a patient with alcohol-induced pancreatitis.

I’ve been telling a lot of my patients about this sub. Most don’t look at it. They all have their own reasons, and priorities.

A lot of healthcare providers do pass judgment on people with substance abuse problems, especially ones with alcohol use disorders. At the same time, they brag about their personal consumption...which always seems a bit embellished.

Word of advice to you, try to get it under control while you’re still in clinicals. It creeps up fast and then one day you’ll suddenly find yourself not being functional anymore.

I’m currently at Day 2, after a ~10 day relapse. Probably my 20th attempt at quitting. Didn’t hit rock bottom, and not planning to continue digging. It will be easier this time around.
