First time visiting Paris this week. I'm from the UK and have travelled a lot of the world, but Paris for some reason or another has always escaped me.

I was under no illusions about what it is; a modern capital city, with all the positives and negatives that come with such a status.

First thing I noticed was the smell. Piss. Strong piss smell in many areas; together with stained streets where men have been peeing in street corners. Also dogshit. Dogshit everywhere. Somehow the destitute here seem in a worse condition than you see in the UK. There's some people here that have really fallen on tough times.

Paris itself though is amazing. Love its vibe and sense of almost reckless abandonment. I've encountered none of the rudeness I'd been warned about; in fact all the Parisians that I've dealt with are kind and generous. The city architecture is awesome. I'm not even going to try and do it justice.
