Is my current 8600k enough to keep up with next gen games? I'm thinking about upgrading to a 10700k

If you buy a 3080ti and want to run games in 1440p or 4k you will likely run into issues with that CPU.

That said, I personally wouldn't be updating that CPU unless I was doubling core count. This is a personal opinion but I suspect in 3ish years a lot of 8core/16thread CPUs that came out recently won't be quite enough to play games made for console and PC.

If I were in your shoes I'd be looking at a 12/24 or 16/32 core to upgrade to, even if that means waiting a bit longer.

I will definitely be running my 9900k and 2080ti for a few more years at least. I know for myself I'm definitely waiting for Zen 3 before I make another CPU/Mobo/ram purchase
