My daughter died from Zellweger Syndrome. My wife and I are here to answer your questions about our experience and our non-profit Lily's List. AMA!

I know you're going to be downvoted up the wazoo but I have the same question. How can anyone not see a merciful death better than a life of suffering? There are WAY worse syndromes than this baby had to live through that people still choose not to abort and force their child to consciously experience them for however long they're predicted to live. I can not wrap my head around it and believe me, I've tried. I used to be a Pro-Life Christian, the whole works until a couple years ago. I haven't seen a single argument other than religious beliefs that makes it seem NOT selfish to give that poor kid a limited and most likely painful existence.
