My doctor says that it’s better for me to stay in my current retail job; instead of looking for a remote job because then my social anxiety is never going to improve. Should I follow this advice?

I'll just say this. I worked retail for many years and I think it greatly helped with my social anxiety I had growing up. Being able to talk with random strangers and many coworkers was honestly good for me.

While I don't work remote, I now work in an office inside a warehouse with only me and my boss in there. Everyone else in the company is across the street in the main building while my boss and I are with the inventory. I can say without a doubt my social anxiety issues have increased over the last year or so since we moved to the new building away from everyone else. I just don't really interact with many people face-to-face anymore. The introverted side of me loves it but I do notice that in large crowds now I just want to die. Honestly, anything more than 10 people and I want to check out. I didn't have this problem when I was working in retail environments for many years.

Just giving my perspective but I would say there is some value in being around others to not worsen your anxiety.
