My dog was attacked at the dog park today. Looking for advice if I'm overreacting.

Not every pitbull is aggressive but the thing is, *many *truly are. If not human aggression, most have high levels of dog aggression (which makes sense given they are part terrier and part Bulldog) to the point where they’d literally kill another dog for existing. Also, nearly ever pitbull in a shelter has heavy restrictions- no dogs, no cats, no small kids, needs a 6 foot fence, etc. They are the only ones I’ve ever seen shelters giving money towards their training to whoever adopts them. And if they were so sweet why do so many shelters purposely fail to disclose bite histories or histories of aggression?

There are of course exceptions to every rule. Some retrievers don’t bring back balls. Some herding dogs suck at herding livestock. Some pitbulls love other dogs and kids- but it just doesn’t hold true for the breed as a whole or even most of the dogs. Many can even go a decade without hurting a fly and then snap and kill their owner, or another pet from the household. They’re forever a gamble and because of that, I’ll ensure none step foot in my house.
