My dog killed my cat.

That sucks, but if the male cat was aggressive and injured the dog and the dog didn't back down, it was just a natural course of events.

I had a dog once that killed an entire liter of kittens (twice, two litters in a row, feral kittens though). Sweetest dog in the world, loved people, never bit anyone.... But ate cats, no matter what. So we just didn't have any cats.

Going forward, I made the choice to just be a dog person and never owned any cats. On my third dog now myself.

My current dog recently killed a baby bunny. He's a beagle mix, blood hound, and he's part terrier so he's fast. I was inside and I starting hearing this really loud whaling chirpy sound. So I go outside, and the dogs cowering from me, something in his mouth, and I can hear the cries coming out of the dogs mouth. I panicked and got the bunny out, but it was fatally wounded. It shook me up pretty bad, because that chirp was heart wrenching. But then I realized I had been training him to do that for 3 years... As all of his toys squeak, and they make that exact same sound (that's when I put 2 and 2 together on the squeaky toys). So in his mind, he's thinking "It's squeaking I must keep destroying this until it no longer squeaks" which is exactly what he does to his squeaky toys.

I've hardened up to it since then, and honestly now, I think I'd encourage him to kill bunnies, because they are everywhere, there's thousands of them in our subdivision.
