My family and psychiatrist are making me attend AA meetings but the problem is I can’t stand AA

You might want to read the book “The Sober Truth: Debunking the Bad Science Behind 12 Step Programs,” by Lance Dodd’s. Or check out his website for a taste — there are lots of his articles there.

I’m 95 days sober. (yay) Trying lots of stuff to stay the course. I can’t fully accept the AA program but I go for the company and to make sober friends. I think there many others there who are also trying to find a way to make it work for them despite some stuff in it they find nonsensical. So you might find likeminded others. I’ve also been to Smart Recovery meetings. The one near me lacked a community feel but lots of people really click with it.

I would hate being made to go to AA. Maybe you can reach a compromise and/or brainstorm a treatment plan together?
