My father is in a lot of pain. Will marijuana help? Or will it have undesired side effects?

There are ill side effects. I don’t understand stoners desperately defending weed/raising it to the skies. It’s fine to like it and I don’t care, but I don’t like it when people pretend that everyones going to have a good experience with it. I’ve done chemo and radiation therapy and I tried weed to help me through it, all it did was make me feel even worse. My nausea got worse, my thoughts ran away from me and I got incredibly anxious (which I wasn’t before weed). It did absolutely nothing to the pain, if anything it made the pain worse as my thoughts were hyper-focused on it. Paranoia is a common side effect, so is nausea. I’d say definitely try it out, but keep in mind that there are a number of side effects to it and make sure you’re ready for them; I sure as hell wasn’t because of people saying similar things as the person you replied to.
