My girlfriend doesn’t like her drawings and it bums me out. I’m sure they would be appreciated by some people

I'm a professional photographer and to be fair I think it's way more likely you'll actually improve and grow as an artist if you hate you work a little bit. Most of the perpetually bad photographers I know are the ones with big egos who can't be critical of their work, they just keep doing the same mediocre stuff over and over thinking it's amazing. You shouldn't stop doing something because you suck sometimes but you need a balance. Looking for empty validation if you think your work needs improvement doesn't actually help you improve.

Positive feedback can be helpful but the harsh sting of a negative critique needs to happen at some point early on and if you can't handle that you're gonna have trouble as an artist in general. A lot of the negative things said about my work have been the most helpful even though they upset me at the time.
